Real-time monitoring on railways
The thesis "Real-time monitoring on the railway: A feasibility study on the implementation of QTMS on the Öresund link" by Elias Höjdén and Markus Sundler at Chalmers University of Technology investigates the possibilities of implementing the monitoring system Quiet Track Monitoring System (QTMS) in railway infrastructure.
The system enables real-time monitoring that can be integrated into the predictive maintenance work, which is expected to lead to reduced risks of accidents and delays as well as more efficient use of resources.
The study shows that QTMS can detect a range of technical parameters, such as rail and wheel irregularities, and identify potential failures before they become critical problems.
"It can be concluded that QTMS is a system and service that is currently in operation and functioning. QTMS can generate great value for all parties involved in a railway system"
